A Dog-Friendly Escape
What makes Briar Cottage dog-friendly?
As dog owners ourselves we had four-legged guests in mind from the renovation stage, with hard-flooring throughout the ground floor, a large shower just off the entrance, and a fully-enclosed terrace. We will soon be able to offer underfloor heating to some of the dog-accessible rooms too!

We welcome two well-behaved dogs at no extra cost (sorry - no puppies) and ask that you follow a few house rules to ensure that the cottage stays in great condition for subsequent guests.

We kindly ask that you:
-
keep dogs downstairs using the stairgate provided
-
protect sofas with throws provided or your own
-
clean up thoroughly after any accidents
-
pick up and dispose of all dog mess

What is provided for dog guests?

Is the local area dog-friendly?
Absolutely! Not only are there dog-friendly walks right from the door step, but the Northumberland coast is blessed with many dog-friendly beaches as near as a 10 minute drive away, and the River Tweed is a short walk from the cottage.
The Cross Inn pub and restaurant in Paxton welcomes dogs but for those who prefer not to take furry family inside, there is a lovely decked area outside with a water bowl at the ready.
A few minutes' walk from the cottage you'll find the beautiful Paxton House with 20 acres of land for on-leash walks (or off-leash frolicking in the River Tweed!). The courtyard café offers a specific dog menu too!
Many of Berwick Upon Tweed's shops and eating establishments also allow dogs.
